Marathon Monday

Marathon Monday was such a fun day! A big group of us gathered at my in-laws house and walked down to 135 to watch and cheer on the runners.

With snacks, drinks, waters and chairs the kids were fully prepared and fueled to cheer!

I don't know why but my emotions were high that day.  I kept tearing up for no reason.  I was just overwhelmed with love.  Love for my family, admiration of the strength and determination of the hundreds of thousands of runners.

It's like there was a little magic in the air.

Once the last runner past we ordered pizza and went back to the house for a picnic.

It really was a fun, relaxing, loving, magical early spring day.

THEN on my way home my phone was going crazy with texts and calls from friends in other states.  I read one text asking if we were OK.  I immediately pulled over, called my friend to assure her we were all fine, and asked why she was so worried.  She told me there was an explosion at the finish line.

I was in shock!  SHOCK! I got home as soon as I could and turned on the news and was devastated by what I saw.  The wounded, and the damage.  It was awful.  It hurt. My heart was truly broken because all I had experienced earlier that day was pure love and joy.  To learn that these explosions were planted with intent to hurt and kill innocent people.  I tear up now thinking of it.

The next few days were tough.  I think the entire state was glued to the news tracking the marathon bombers and the more we learned about these terrorists the more my heart ached. I know my pain was nothing compared to all those who were wounded and lost their lives; but my heart just ached for days. I had a tough time sleeping.  For whatever reason it really shook me.

It was a relief when they were finally captured a few days later.

Another Thank You to the heroes who hunted and worked and searched to protect us and capture the men.

BUT once again. The terrorists really lost in the long run because it unified the people of this state.

BOSTON STRONG!
