Sweet Conversation

I'm telling you if you have not heard Hailey talk, you really should!  She has the cutest little voice.  I am NOT the only one that thinks that by the way...everyone tells me she does.  AND she can hold a real, true entire conversation.  Yup, she has spoken well and could hold conversations for  A WHILE.  The doctor was super impressed with her.
One of the sweetest things is when Kyle and Hailey talk with one another.  They have always communicated.  At first it was baby babble, but they seemed to understand one another because they would always laugh at the same time.  Now, when they are not fighting, they actually converse.  I enjoy eavesdropping.  Sometimes they sound so sweet =)

Bikini Time!

Its the time of year Daddy HATES most:

BIKINI TIME!!!!!!

Poop and a Jet

We have been working on potty training Kyle for a while now.  He has had the pee thing down for a WHILE now.  GO KYLE!  But the poop thing......well that's a whole other thing.

I tried everything!  We read books, he wouldn't poop.  I bribed him with stickers, snacks, and toys he would want- he wouldn't poop.  I would put him on the potty when I knew he was hiding to poop, he would stop and not poop.  When he would poop in his pants I would bring him in the bathroom put the poop into the potty and watch it flush, and that did not inspire him either.

I was patient with the pooping thing.  I know its a little harder for kids.  I recognize that they feel like they are losing a piece of themselves. So, I really did try to keep my cool every time I had to clean the nasty, yucky, gross, poop.

Last week we were out and about running errands and we ended up in "the paper store" Kyle now refers to it as "the present store". While we were there he explored the toy section a bit and found a blue jet.

He LOVED this blue angel jet. He begged me for it!  I told him "if you go poop on the potty, you can get blue jet"

24 hours later my little man pooped on the potty!!!!  He literally pooped, threw his arms in the air and yelled "I get my blue jet". Hailey then came in the bathroom and I told her Kyle pooped.  She joined in cheering him on.  She threw her arms in the air and yelled "Go Kyle! Yay!" Guess she got some of my cheerleading spirit =)

The next day (I couldn't get it that night, I just had LASIK) Kyle got his blue jet! He told everyone he saw that day "I got my blue jet because I poop on the potty"  THANKFULLY everyone he told was excited for him =)

Since then he has only had 1 accident .  I think it is safe to say he is fully potty trained.  I don't doubt we will have an accident here or there, and he wears pull-ups to bed, because he isn't quite ready to give up the milk before bed...but overall he is TRAINED!!!

Go Kyle!!! and Thanks blue jet =)

***wondering where the picture of the first poop is??? I didn't take one, and if I did I wouldn't post it. BUT the weirdo Mom I am was sad I missed it.  I know, I am ridiculous!!!!!***

Terrible 2!

Hailey and age 2 do not seem to agree.  Quite literally since the day she turned 2 she has been.....well.....kinda terrible!

On the day of her party she was not herself.  She was tired and lethargic, she had a little fever the night before. OK, off day.

Monday (after her b-day) she had to go to the doctor and had to get FOUR shots.  AND she was starting to get some teeth.  For the next 10 days she was sick!  She had a fever I couldn't break, she wasn't upbeat and fun, just miserable.  But, totally understandable and explainable.

Now, she is feeling better and up and about BUT, TERRIBLE.  If she isn't clinging to me, she is either sleeping of fighting with Kyle.  They quite literally fight about everything!  Today it was about a stick.  A STICK!!! Can you believe it??? I found 10 other sticks for them to play with, but they had to fight about THAT stick.  ARGH!
I get A LOT more of THIS face and attitude as well.

Dear Hailey, I love you. BUT this whole you being terrible at 2.  Can we have this be it?  I will handle all the terrible you can give now if it means you will be awesome and love me in your tween and teen years. LOVE, Mom =)

Memories...

No one really had anything going on Memorial Day weekend.  We didn't want to sit around and do nothing so.......

We had a party with our family and friends.  2 days of parties!!!!!  It was unplanned, unexpected and a ton of fun!  Happy Memorial Day...weekend =)

Marc and Vicki

Dear Uncle Walmsley and Auntie Vicki-
Thanks for Cannonball Splash!!!
Kyle LOVES it!!!!!!!

PRE-K

OK, So Kyle is 3 and I know (even though it breaks my heart) that he needs to start pre-school in the fall.  I want him to go 2 days a week, in the morning.  I don't need day care, and I like having him home so even 2 hours in the morning really hurts my heart.

Ummmmm who knew finding and getting into a pre-school would be so damn hard?!?!?!  I guess I missed the chapter in the mommy handbook where it tells you in order to sign your child up for pre-school get him in the YEAR BEFORE!!!  Does everyone know to do that?  Please tell me I am not the only moron mommy who didn't know that.

Anyway, once I learned the hard way I was LATE (even though its spring) in signing him up I did what I could to find a pre school.  I emailed all the pre-schools in the area. Let me tell you; that is a feat in itself.  Weeding out which school is an actual pre-school vs. day care. Who knew there were such standards for 3 year olds.

Well, of all the schools I emailed I heard back from 4.  One was a three day a week full day minimum and more of a day care program.  A second was a 5 day a week program, and full day; which is not day care.  Look, I know education is important, and I really do want my children to grow into smart and hard working adults, but I don't feel it needs to start at age 3 for my little ones.  The third offered 2 days a week in the afternoon.  The fourth offered 3 days a week in the morning mon-weds (weird) and it was part of the public school program here in my town, but there was a waiting list.  Confused yet???

Seriously, what is a mommy to do?  So I went to my neighbor and had her ask her childrens pre-school teacher if there were any openings.  There were!!!

Kyle is officially enrolled in Happy Hours pre-school Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9-11:30.

It is different than what I imagined, but the teachers I met seemed incredibly nice and like they truly love what they do.

SO- there it is.  My baby boy is going to go to school. He is so excited.  He won't stop talking about all the new friends he is going to meet.  He is such a social butterfly.  He makes friends everywhere he goes.  When a group of 8 year olds walked by him when we were looking at the school he pointed and shouted "look Mom, FRIENDS"

Now you know mommy's get on the pre-school list now, but know if you missed the chapter on pre-school sign up like me it will somehow always work out.  Even if it breaks your heart and means he actually has to start school!

What a Day!

Yesterday was a practically perfect day in every way.  The sun was shining, it was warm, we had fun and adventure on the horizon and good friends along for the ride.  It was a great day for the zoo!

It began a little "iffy".  Hailey has had a fever for several days and was just a miserable, sick baby bug.  I was debating, zoo or doctor, but she seemed to come around a bit and we thought some vitamin D after all the days in due to the rain would be good.  So, knowing it was a little risky it was off to Roger Williams with the neighbors.

We were all captivated with all the animals there were to see

Since the moment we walked into the zoo Kyle was DETERMINED to "go to the farm" Thankfully, Roger Williams Zoo has a little farm area.
The donkey in farmland was all about Hailey. I am not sure if he was "hee haw"-ing at her in a good way or a bad way, but he was all about her.  Daddy was there to hold her =)

Hailey was determined to get herself into the Emonds zoo stroller. So when everyone left she jumped in =)
I have to say it was a great day!

I am excited for more fun trips this summer, and hopefully one of those trips will be a return visit to the zoo =)
