Pukey Pukies

In case you were confused by the title, we've been sick.  Not something fun, cute or exciting to write about; but even in the sick and tired moments there are memorable ones.

Approximately 1:30 am Thursday morning Jason and I woke up to Kyle coughing, and well, "getting sick".  It was awful and it was everywhere. Jason changed the sheets, and I cleaned up my sick baby boy. Of course now the family was up, and to our dismay quite awake.  So we turned on Little Einsteins to ease and calm the kiddos and all seemed well. Until, 30 minutes later when Kyle got sick again....everywhere! BUT there was a cutie moment.  Kyle looked at me with his bright blue eyes and said "I'm sorry Mama. Kyle's in trouble.  I made a messy mess."  Of course I just hugged and kissed him and told him he was not in trouble, and we would clean the messy mess.  I just couldn't understand why he did not like the thought of using the bucket.  After round 2 of cleaning and changing Kyle and the sheets I prayed all was well.  Wouldn't you know, just as Kyle and Hailey were falling back to sleep again he got sick AGAIN.  Only this time I put bubbles in the bucket.  Guess what?  It worked!

Needless to say it was a rather sleepless night.  The bright side, after 6:30 his pukey pukies were done =).
After 48 hours of no sickness and 7 loads of laundry I though we were in the clear....but NO!

Poor Hailey Bug.. Around 4:30am Saturday morning we all woke up to her coughing and "getting sick", everywhere. Kyle looked at his little sister and said "Mama Hailey's sick." and then he followed us into her room where we cleaned her up.  Kyle watched over her like the amazing big brother he is.  When she cried for a binky he ran into the other room and brought her back her favorite one.

With fresh sheets, fresh jammies, and a bubble bucket bedside we all tried to go back to bed. Then Kyle looked at me and said "oh no Mama I am sick".  I put the bubble bucket in front of him and he pretended to cough into it and then he looked at me with his baby blues and said "oh so close Mama". However, his faking taught Hailey exactly what to do the next time she got sick.  And, on a side note I know this will sound strange but she looked so adorable.  Not that it is adorable to be sick, but there she was in her onesie pajamas (which she never wears) where you could see how her tiny body still didn't quite fit into them.  Her face so delicate and pale, with lips red like snow white.  Her hair pulled back just so, and her little self baring all trust in me.  The arms I held her in, the chest she leaned against, the fingers that tickled her back, and the whispers in her ear telling her "I love you.  You are OK.  Good girl."

After a few hours in the clear, and the day beginning Hailey and Kyle got a bath (for rather obvious reasons).  Hailey was a princess and refused to get dressed.  She only wanted to wear pajamas.  Of course, her wish was my command.

Jason went to Dunkin'Donuts and brought home Munchkins per request of the children.  Hailey ate a few and asked for some cereal.  She didn't eat much but I thought," great she must be feeling better I am going to take a shower."  I was a little nervous because Jay was up on the roof shoveling off the snow, but I would only be a few minutes. Just as I finishes rinsing my hair Kyle came speeding in and said "Mama Hailey so sick, she made a messy mess".  With a towel wrapped around me I rushed to my room where I found my little girl calmly laying with chocolate goop on and all around her.  Off to the tubby (take 2) she went where chocolate goop somehow found its way everywhere: the floor, me, the walls.  After she was cleaned up again, I cleaned myself again and began another day of laundry.  7 loads here at home and 2 at the laundromat to clean the comforters.

At this point I, myself really do not feel well.  I was getting the chills and my stomach was crampy. BUT, I needed to wash our 2 comforters   Wouldn't you know a little girl "got sick" right at my feet.  ARGH!  I took off to Marshalls to spend my time and a little money.  I got back to the laundromat at the perfect moment.  Grabbed my things and came home.  I then went to my basement and slept on and off for four hours.  I have NEVER done that!  I would wake up and literally did not have the strength to move. The worst part was I felt so sick that I missed date night with the hubby =(  He had a special night planned for my birthday and I had to cancel. SO SAD.

Which brings you up to today.  I definitely did not feel 100% however, I certainly felt better.  I knew my husband had something special planned for the day so I was determined to make the best of it. I couldn't eat much but it didn't matter because my day was special.

Sadly, now Jay wasn't feeling well, and he was "muddy".  When we came home he fell apart and was sick..like super sick.  Kyle came out to check on his Dad.  He told me "mama, Dada is sick, he needs a shower and a bucket with bubbles" which we proceeded to get.  Jay is still not doing well.  I am hoping it passes quickly, and I am hoping my chills and cramps were the worst of it for me.

So why did I share this sad, sick story?  Because of my son.  Because Kyle is 2 1/2 and has one of the best hearts.  And because somehow, somewhere in between the sickness, and the laundry, and the stench, and the exhaustion I found humor, and adorable moments.  I found love and memories.  OK maybe its weird.  Maybe I will only see it because I am a Mom. BUT what a lucky person I am to find some good in all this yuck =)

His Father's Son

With winter here and all the snow we have been getting; when Jay gets home from work he has been plowing and shoveling the stairs and the driveway.  Poor Kyle has wanted to help him, but he was either already in his pajamas or Daddy would be coming in by the time we got Kyles boots and etc. on so he could go out and help.  Tonight Kyle was ahead of the game.  He asked if Daddy was coming home soon and when I said "yes" he rushed to the mud room and grabbed his shovel. He said "Mama I help Dada please" so I dressed him up and off he went.  I am confused as to why he looks so grumpy in the pictures he was excited to help and to see Daddy.

He started with the deck and the steps.

He did  a pretty good job for a 2 year old =)

Then he got to the bottom and began to dig a little tunnel.

Isn't he so cute?

He stood proud waiting to show Daddy that he is a hard worker and willing to help anyone. Just like his father =)

That's our boy!

Mirror, Mirror,

Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who is the custest little girl of all?
Hailey Rose!!
After Hailey helps pick out her outfit for the day. Chooses the accessory she wants in her hair; and decides how she wants her hair done.  She looks in the morror.

It cracks me up that this 20 month old looks at herslf to make sure she is put together just right.  Sometimes she will even turn to me and say "I pretty Mama"

She IS pretty.  She is beautiful.  She is MY baby girl.

Her Daddy is going to have his hands full with this cute little Diva =)

You gotta love her =)

Kyles Korner

I am sort of mad at myself for not blogging about this sooner.  I guess it was just the norm, so I never really thought to write about it; Although I always thought it was adorable.  Since the day Hailey came home from the hospital each and every time I go in her room to change her diaper Kyle follows us into the room, races to the chair, and sits in the corner of her room.

I don't know if it is to supervise, or just him watching out for his little sister, or maybe watching out for me (don't pee or poop on my Mom).  Maybe its just to be with us.  Either way its adorable.  He is a good Son and a GREAT Big Brother =)

The Prince and Princess

Last night I took out the kids "thrones" and they sat and watched football with us. I put them away, and this morning they wanted them back.  A Prince and Princess do deserve proper thrones.

Lets face it, they rule the roost around here anyway.

Its Fluffy Though!

With yet ANOTHER day looking like this (you can't see, but it was still snowing)....we had to make the best of it, and we did!
After breakfast, a little Mickey Mouse and a snack we got out our "Music Together Now" CD, we sang and danced and whipped out the paints.  Their little minds were flowing with creativity.

Kyle found the glitter glue and HAD to create with it.
Hailey could not quite understand the concept of having to squeeze the tubes to get out the glitter glue. Suddenly the clouds opened up (literally) the suns rays shined through (literally) and the angels sang (not really, but it was like they did) Hailey said "Kyle, help please" and.....HE DID!! He helped her several times.  He would climb down from his chair, put the color she chose on her paper, walk back around to his seat at the table; and each time Hailey asked for help, he just gave it to her.  I even offered to help so Kyle could just work on his own project and neither one of them would let me.  I know SHOCKING!

After a wonderful lunch...if you can even call it lunch, neither one of them ate very well.  However, it was sweet to watch them CHOOSE to sit together at their own little table and do "cheers"

Then, LOOK........ YUP, they snuggled together!  Just the 2 of them.  It lasted just long enough to snap a few photos, but still it was a SITE TO SEE.

They then went to my room together and both took much needed naps.  When they woke up they saw their friends Logan and Bradey outside and insisted on putting on their snowsuits to go out and play.  I knew there was serious energy to be burned after a nice long nap, so their wish was my command.  Kyle had a lot of fun with the boys.  Hailey is really over the whole playing in the snow thang.  I think she is too Diva for that.  She was upset I put her on a little man-made snow slide...forget actually getting IN the snow.
But Ky, he LOVED it.  Overall it was a great day.  Followed with a yummy dinner, tubbies and bed.

Now......what are we going to do next week when we get TWO MORE feet of snow??? It is getting a little scary to be honest with you.  I don't know where all the snow is going to go, and as for playing in it, well that's not going to happen because Hailey may get lost in it!  I guess this is winter for ya =)

ANOTHER snow day?

Tuesday was ANOTHER snow day.  The snow is quite literally getting too high for my children to even go out and play in.  They can't walk through it, there is so much snow.  Home bound I was cleaning and trying to come up with ideas of how to spend the day.  Luckily and thankfully the town sent a truck to the neighborhood to cut down any and all branches that could even possibly effect the electrical wires.

This occupied my babies for 2 whole hours!  Do you know how much I got done?? I even got to watch a little TV.  TV that I wanted to watch not Disney or Sprout!  I know, CRAZY!  Thanks town trucks.
Now we are getting an additional 8 inches of snow Friday and maybe another foot Tuesday.  Welcome winter.

A Day at Tarjay

Today was a random day.  I thought I was going to be doing a favor for my husband, and go to BJ's to get some ice melt; but as it turns out he didn't need me to go.  However, the car was warm so: why not go out?  We picked up Jay's dry cleaning, and ran to the bank and then Kyle said   "Target Mama" and Hailey said "shopping Mama" so off to Tarjay we went.

Would you believe we spent 2 hours there?  Just walking around and parouzing.  Of course I made some unnecessary purchases.  While at the check out Kyle saw the food court and requested "lunch".  Where it is SO DIFFICULT to get him to eat I could not deny his request, well really it was more of a demand, but either way I had my first Tarjay cafe experience.

Of course I forgot my camera at home and didn't have it to document them eating Target Mac n'cheese and Hot Dog.  Not that there was a ton to see, really it was just them eating, and sipping milk through straws.  For some reason though it really touched my heart.

Them saying "cheers" and tapping their little milk bottles together, while snacking on a little Tarjay....well it was adorable.  A random day, a fun day, a waste of time day, a tarjay day=)

Snow Day!

On Wednesday 1/12/2011 we were hit with a snowstorm.  It was almost at blizzard status, but didn't quite make the cut. So its just the first (and ideally there won't be too many more) snowstorm of 2011.

I was not feeling 100% but I still tried to get the kids to play outside.  Instead they wanted to do this....
Which to be perfectly honest didn't bother me at all.  I was down for a lazy day at home.
and I could have used the rest.  The next day though I was not taking ANY excuses or whining we were going outside.

The snow was pretty deep. More deep in some spots than others.  Mind you there is more snow under the babies feet. Despite our 20inches of snow Kyle was determined to make it to the swing set.
Hailey refused to venture the snow on her own, so I had to split my time to help Kyle out and hold Haileys hand.

When we made it to the swing set Kyle had 2 priorities.  To hang from the monkey bars (which he held himself for 5 Mississippi seconds) ; and 2 .) to make me snow pizza and snow pie.
Of course Hailey had to "cook" for me as well.
After about 45 minutes playing in the snow (half of that just getting to the swing set) it was time to trek back to the house.
Buggy was not up for trekking.  I had to carry her a lot of the way.
All in all it was a fun hour of snow.  I didn't even get out the little sled, I don't think i would have done very well in the snow anyway...we don't have many hills in the yard anyway.  So,next snow adventure....sledding!
