I shared with the world our adventures and fun in Falmouth, but I totally didn't tell you about our last day or our ride home.
The day began a little in the air. I wasn't sure if we were going to stay in Falmouth or head home. I wasn't sure if my brother and his family were definitely leaving and if so when. I wasn't sure Jay wanted to come back down (he left Thursday morning to work, and is a home body).
Not knowing what was happening exactly I went downstairs ans cleaned the basement. I swept the stairs, vacuumed, dusted, I even washed out the washer and dryer.
When my brother and his family left just after 12 I jumped into psycho cleaning mode. I really thought it would take me 2 hours TOPS to clean up. Its not like the house was a mess, at all...and I have to add everyone offered to help me clean. However, my thought was the fewer people in the house the faster and easier it will be to clean. I was WRONG!! My psycho cleaning had me cleaning the place for FIVE hours!!!! I cleaned everything!!!!!!
My poor kids were in their jammies until 4pm. I didn't shower until 4:45. The worst part....they were hungry. Thinking the house would only take me a couple hours I got rid of all the food (I didn't want anything to go bad) , so there was nothing for them to eat. They did have a good breakfast, and they had some snack around 11:30 but that was it. I really thought I was going to be out by 2pm so they would have a late lunch. Time ticked on and my plan changed to an early dinner at 4pm, but we didn't even get out until a little after 5!!!! I know I'm TERRIBLE!!!!
They asked to go to Friendly's and I agreed. We hit the road and the first sign for a Friendly's we would stop. Thankfully, just as we crossed over the Bourne Bridge there was a sign for Friendly's. I was so relieved! It was off the exit, a short ride thru the woods, over a bridge to a building that used to be Friendly's. I asked the kids if we could go somewhere else, but they were adamant. I just wanted them to eat, but they just wanted food and ice-cream from Friendly's.
I also needed gas. Just my luck there was a Stop n' Shop gas station. I was psyched I had a TON of points to use =). There was also a long line. I waited for a bit, got cut in line and after waiting what seemed like forever I turned the car around and went to the Mobil across the street that charge .30 cents more a gallon. As soon as I pull out of the station Kyle tells me he has to pee. WHAT!!! I JUST LEFT!!! I asked him if he could hold it and he said yes so it was back onto I495 toward home and some food.
I was flying. I just wanted to get Kyle to a bathroom and food in their bellies. There was a sign for a Friendly's Express, but whats that??? Do they have food? Just ice cream? It wasn't worth the risk getting off the highway. The next Friendly's I knew of was at the Wrentham Outlets. I didn't want to take them there....now we are getting close to home. The Wrentham restaurant always has a line and I wanted food in them ASAP. Just as I pass the exit I called Jay and told him I was just going to the one on RT9 near home. He couldn't believe how fast I got home or that I had to eat there. Just as I hung up the phone with him Kyle yelled I have to pee Mama. It was an emergency he had to go! I was afraid he wouldn't even make it to the next exit, plus I would have to take Hailey out. Its an ordeal to take a three year old somewhere to pee when he has a baby sister in the car too. I pulled over on the highway....way over, took him out and yes, my 3 year old peed on 495. I had a towel covering him so no one saw, but it didn't help to keep us dry as it began to downpour!!! Remember, he told me he had to pee back near the Bourne bridge. I know, I am not winning mommy of the year. My son had to pee and both my babies were starving.
Wouldn't you know Exit 19 had a Friendly's.....but Jay was meeting us off Exit 23A. Can't stop now. Needless to say we made it to the restaurant as a family and made it home. It was just an adventure and a little something I didn't want to forget. Sometimes DeVincent Days aren't so simple =) But always memorable =)
