Kyle is growing up so much. I am really struggling with it. Don't get me wrong. I love watching him learn and grow and play sports and all that. Its just sad at how fast it all happens.
If you know me, you know I am a little crazy when it comes to seat belt safety. I had them facing backward for as long as I could, and Kyle in the 5 point harness for as long as I could. The doctor was surprised at his 5 year check up that I still had Kyle in a 5 point harness, but impressed.
Then, we went to Maine for mom's birthday. We shifted Kyle's seat over to make room in the mini van (which I still hate that I have a mini van) for 2 more passengers and he got to wear the "regular" seat belt. I was so uncomfortable, and he was thrilled. All his friends and cousins use a "regular seat belt" so he was so excited that he finally got to.
From there, there really was no turning back and I had to face the fact that the harness was getting too tight, and he was above the height and weight recommendations for the lap belt. I did switch where he sat in the car. I don't exactly understand why a booster seat doesn't need to be LATCHed in. I mean (God forbid) someone is in an accident isn't the seat somewhat able to move around and cause more injury??? I know I sound crazy and my thought processes went back and forth. Nearly everyone I talk to does not have the booster in the LATCH. I know you don't have to. Some boosters even say not to. But mine says you can use the LATCH.
I'm going on and on but really in the end. I switched where he sat so I can LATCH and he can use a lap belt. Even better Kyle and Hailey both love their new positions in the car =)
Ohh another sign of him growing up. Staring right at me every time I turn and see him in the car now.
Happy travels Tidbit =)
