It's HIM!

**There are no pictures to go along with this post.  This post doesn't even have anything to do with my kids.  Its about me, and some dumb thing I did.**

A few years ago I worked at Home Depot for a small amount of time.  I enjoyed my job (to a degree).  No major complaints.  In any job I have, I always work hard and try to be the best.  One evening I was walking down the plumbing aisle and there was a gentleman trying to get down a long PVC pipe.  Offering a  little customer service I said "Oh, let me help you; two hands are better than one" with a smile on my face.  When the man turned toward me.  Wouldn't you know...he only had ONE arm.  I am NOT lying.  I mean really, who says 2 hands are better than one?  When do I ever say that?  I don't!  I never say that.  I can't think of any other time in my life I have ever actually said that.  So why did I have to say it that day?  To that guy?

Well, like being mortified in that moment was not enough, every time I saw him I would hide.  Like he ever wanted to see me again anyway.  I am not sure I ever even apologized!  I may have but to be perfectly honest the pure terror and humiliation in that moment froze me, and I can not recall much after those few minutes.

Here it is a few years later and who do I see....HIM. He works at Stop n' Shop and quite literally every time I go food shopping I see him.  I have gone at different times on different days and every time, I see HIM.  I think he has forgiven me because he always smiles and talks to Kyle and Hailey. BUT I still get those icky, horrible, guilt butterflies.

I need to get over this.  Its not like he is mean or scary in anyway.  AND its not like I meant to hurt his feeling or offend him in anyway. I honestly didn't know he only had one arm.  It was a case of said the wrong thing at the wrong time.  Talk about your words biting you in the ass.  Over and over and over.

  1. Oh my god I just cried laughing about that. I'm sorry it stresses you out to go to S & S but "two hands are better than one!" is the funniest thing ever. Something I would totally do...
