Today Hailey had her first field trip. She has been looking forward to this since school started. She watched Kyle get on the bus twice last year knowing that her day would come, and today it did!
It broke my heart last year watching Kyle go on his first field trip, and I wasn't going with him. With Hailey and Cole being so young and on medication I just couldn't go. It was my first missed baby first.
For Hailey's field trip I was excited because once I thought everything through I had to get someone to help me. It is a close call everyday picking up Hailey from pre-school 5 minutes early to catch Kyle's bus home. I knew if the bus from the field trip came home even 5 minutes late I would miss Kyle!
I told Hailey "I'm going to go on the field trip with you! I asked Grandma if she would watch Cole and get Kyle off the bus for me and she said YES!!!!"
Hailey's response: "ummm I have an idea Mama how 'bout you stay home and get Kyle off the bus and babysit Coley and Grandma come with me on my field trip."
BOOM heart broke...but what could I say?!? She wanted to go with my Mom. I knew it would make Hailey's first field trip even more special.
She counted down the days..."Mom, 5 more days until my first field trip! Mom, 3 more days until I get to ride on a bus for the first time! Mom, can we call Grandma to remind her my first field trip is in 2 days?!"
She was just so so excited! Though I have to admit it hurt my heart a little because I knew I would be missing Hailey going on her first field trip I was also so excited for her.
Well, with Kyle all I got were pictures of him driving off in the bus to his field trip while I cried in the parking lot with Hailey and Cole. YES I CRIED! At least this time I had my mom with her and she could bring my camera with her so I could see pictures of such a fun filled day.
Her first bus ride! She was very proud of the fact that she buckled the seatbelt on the bus all by herself =)
My little Bug has such an amazing heart. She made sure she and Grandma picked extra apples for Mommy, Daddy, Kyle and Cole. Hailey also made sure to get 3 little pumpkins one for her and 2 for her brothers. She makes me so proud and amazes me sometimes =)
When Cole got up from his nap he was thrilled to see Hailey, and just would not stop playing with his pumpkin =)
Yes, I shed a tear or two knowing I was missing my first big thing with Hailey. Thankfully I knew she was in good hands with her school and loving hands with my mom. I hope this day lives somewhere in her heart forever. I know that sounds corny....it was just a field trip to pick apples; but it was her FIRST field trip and she got to go on a bus- for the first time, and pick apples and pumpkins with her GRANDMA!
