It has become a tradition that our family foursome go down to Falmouth (where Jay's parents have a quaint little place) to celebrate the 4th of July. This year was no different.....
Falmouth Day 1: July 2,2011
Our first day began with leaving home bright and early and going to see Grandma and Grandpa DeVincent. We unpacked the car and Grams and Gramps brought a bunch of toys outside for the kids to play with in the little yard. =)
I think Grandma really enjoyed playing with them =)
Daddy did too, but we had to remind him that basketball is actually played using a basketball and not a Kyle =)
Then it was off to the playground....... I was too busy playing to snap photos, but this one I took because Jay looked like the kid on the playground no one wanted to play with =)
After dinner at Seafood Sam's we went to watch the Falmouth Commodores play the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Why? Well of course because we love baseball and its a fun thing to go watch but MOSTLY because ever since Jay and I went to the baseball game a few weeks ago Kyle has begged us to take him to a baseball game. He literally asked 10000 times a day to go to a baseball game. So I promised him when we went to the Cape I would bring him to a game.
Hailey insisted on bringing her baby and her special baby carriage Grandma keeps for her in Falmouth.
Kyle, well he wasn't as much fun. I think he was just so tired, and pretty miserable that he didn't have his bat.
Needless to say, with a miserable toddler I didn't get to actually watch much of the game. Thankfully there was a little playground near by to brighten my toddlers day.
Hailey LOVED this colorful dolphin.
Kyle (despite this being a little playground built for older kids) couldn't get enough of the slide.
Hailey, my little dare-devil was up to test her strength as well.
Day 1 was a fun day, and a day that wiped my little ones out =)
Falmouth Day 2: July 3,2011
I woke up bright and early and go to go fishing with Jason and Ron.
Unfortunately we didn't catch anything, but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was nice to get out on the ocean. Feel the salt hit my skin and the wind in my hair. I even got to drive the boat. I think I made the boys a little nervous...I liked to go fast!!! =)
Jason got to take the controls as well. I snapped a pic. of his first time as Captain =)
After a few hours on the sea and a break from the little ones it was time to get back and wait for Rhonda and her Ryan's.
Hailey kept herself very busy tending to her baby. We kept busy watching my little cutie.
When Ryan got there he joined in in the stroller fun.
I had fun watching my 2 little ones interact with their cousin. "C'mon Ryan, come play"
Not catching anything in the morning put a damper on Jasons day. He NEEDED to see some fish. So it was off to a little lake we found for some off shore fishing.
The BEST part of the day.....Kyle cast, caught, and reeled in his FIRST FISH!!!
We were all SO PROUD OF HIM!!!! Even Auntie Rhonda who isn't a fan of the sport got excited!!!
Don't worry Hailey and Ryan Jr. didn't miss out on the fun......
they both got to touch the fish =)
As excited and proud Jason was of his son, he still needed a fish of his own to get the real happy blood flowing through his veins. So the kids and I snuck off to the park to give him a little time and space to fish on his own. He did well too....7 fish! Nothing exciting, no big bass or pickerel, but a fish is a fish so he was happy.
After showers and some food I thought these 3 would have been down for the count. But really, they just watched a little TV together and then were up for a few more hours of play.
Eventually they did fall asleep.....not all cute and snugly like this, but its a good picture to end day 2 with =)
Falmouth Day 3: July 4, 2011
Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!
The morning started BRIGHT and EARLY!!! I basically woke up and dressed the babes in their Fourth of July gear. After a fast shower and dressing in a bright red shirt to celebrate the day it was time to whip out all the celebration gear.
I really think one of the reasons my husband married me is because of my pure love for all things fun and ridiculous. He needed a little ridiculous in his life.
Even though he laughs at me for my beads, fake tattoos, flags, and any other gear I can get my hands on, I know its appreciated....BY ALL!!!
So after decking everyone out it was off to the Falmouth bike parade. You would kinda think Falmouth would have a big parade but it is literally just a bike parade. People decorate their wagons, bikes, kids, dogs etc and just walk through the center of town.
Now me, in all my ridiculous glory would LOVE to participate. I have the excuse (the kids) the proper tools (a wagon) and a fun spirit to participate, but the whole point of a parade is to have SOMEONE watch. So in my 4th of July spirit I try to show my patriotism and love for the day as a spectator, and support those in the parade. Lets face it, I can make my own fun on the sidelines anyway.
Do you like my kids July 4th outfits???
After the parade we needed to kill some time until the fireworks. So we walked downtown and got the kids some ice cream. OREO of course!!!
Then we found a little bowling/arcade place.
When Jay saw the air hockey table we knew it was GAME ON. We play for blood...OK not blood, for fun; but we legit try to win. Unfortunately for us the kids wanted to play, and our game was taken over....KIDS!
We went back to the house and the kids passed out!
After a loooong nap it was off to dinner at The Flying Bridge. While we were there we realized people were gathering there to watch the fireworks from the lawn, and their boats. We thought it through and decided to stay there for the fireworks.
The original plan was to go back to the house, bathe the kids, get them in their jammies and then head down to the beach where we fight to find parking, and watch the fireworks from the beach. I don't always love it there because if someone stands up of sits in front of you, your view of the fireworks is horribly interrupted. AND Jason hates sand.
Me, being the RIDICULOUS and OVERLY PREPARED mother I am was totally OK just staying at The Flying Bridge. I had jammies for the kids, sweatshirts for the chill. Jeans and sweatshirts for Jason and me. Blankets to sit on (although we sat on Rhondas towels). Bug spray. and OF COURSE fun for the kids: toys bubbles, and more night time 4th of July gear: glow necklaces and bracelets. OK, OK so the glow stuff wasn't JUST for the kids..wink wink.
She is just so pretty.....
Kyle had fun making things using the glow-necklaces and the containers they came in. He made a wand, a fishing rod and a whole little game up =) His little imagination amazes me =)
Another 4th of July for the memory books =)
I have to say my FAVORITE picture of the night was one that was never captured on camera just in my heart. I had Hailey on my lap, my arm around Kyle as he snuggled next to me and my husband sitting next to the three of us. Just an amazing moment that I really breathed in and thanked God for. A moment I never want to forget and a moment that quite literally brought tears to my eyes.
What can I say? I love my family and I love the 4th =)
