The Irish Are Here!

For Jay's parents 40th wedding anniversary some of his family from Ireland came over to celebrate the special event.  It has been 6 years (our wedding) since they have last been here.  They were staying for 2 weeks and were going to meet all of the DeVincent grandchildren for the first time!

Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with them.  We had quite the cluster of a week!

Friday morning I noticed Hailey had green in her eyes.  Oh man!  She had conjunkdivitis!  I was flabergasted and totally paturbed.  Kyle had it a week and a half prior and I made a point to disinfect and wash everything constantly...which was EXHAUSTING with a newborn to tend to as well.  How the heck did she get it?

I called into the doctor and they sent a prescription over to the pharmacy.  Well, later that afternoon we got a call from the cardiologist with news that Cole had something going on with his heart and we decided to take him to Children's hospital.  Well, before we could go I had to cover child care, run a few unexpected errands, pack for us to stay and oh yeah, get Hailey's prescription while in Mommy panic, but try to keep it cool mode.  I called the pediatricians office to make sure they sent the 'script over becuase I never heard from the pharmacy saying it was ready to be picked up.  They assured me it was sent in the morning.  So I rushed to pick it up to learn "They are sorry but they do not have that medicine." They called 4 different pharmacies and they did not have it either.  They gave me another treatment option so I had to call my pediatrician get a new prescription and wait 20 minutes.

Now, I know this does not sound like a big deal, but it seemed like nothing but chaos, amplified by pure worry and fear.  Maybe you have to be a parent to truly understand....

Anyway, from there is was off to the hospital with Cole while my sister watched Kyle and Hailey.THANK YOU KATELIN!!

You can read about what was going on with Cole here.  In the mean time at home: Saturday morning Jason took the kids and my sister out to breakfast and Kyle vomittied ALL OVER the car! So Jay took the mini-van to be cleaned ran a few errands and rushed around to get back up to the hospital to see me.

We were released around 5pm and the party started at 6. We rushed to the hotel to get Hailey because she was crying and not feeling well.  We picked her up, bolted back to the car to the pharmacy to get Cole's medicine. Rushed home, fed Hailey, fed Cole, packed PJ's for Kyle and Hailey, re-packed Cole's diaper bag. Jay and I both took fast showers.  I got dressed as fast as I could on no sleep for 40 some odd hours.  Does this sounds hectic to you??? because it was CRAZY!  We were about to leave and Cole tossed up his entire bottle all over himself and me!  I quickly changed him, washed my dress off (I had nothing else to wear) and prayed I did not smell like baby vomit.  We jumped in the car were on our way and Jay's shirt lost 2 buttons.  We had to turn around and get him a new shirt.

We FINALLY got to the party (2 hours late).  I was so frazzled by everything I was grateful there was so much family there that wanted to see and love Cole. It kept me moving and busy.  Then, the drama began...Kyle and Hailey (with her nasty green eyes) were crying they wanted to go home.  We stayed for as long as we could and then gave in and went home around 10pm.

Well midnight rolls around and Kyle "got sick" all over my bed, and Hailey did as well but the other way!  Is this happening?!?!?!  I am beyond emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted!  Grossed out by the pink eye and now I have to deal with diarrhea and vomit?!?!?! YUP!!!

Well, this went on for a week!  All I could do was plant them in the living room, in front of the TV and stay with Cole in my room because I didn't want him to get it! All I can say is that week stock went way up in bleach and sanitizer!!!

The worst part....we were not able to see Jay's family from Ireland!

After a week of sickness and adjusting to giving Cole his medicine we were finally all OK to see the Irish.

They came over Monday and we got to show them some of our family fun:

We took them to the grist mill for some history, good scenery and they all wanted to see how Kyle and Hailey could fish.

Then, it was back to our house for some tea and dessert, and some go-kart racing =)

The next day we got to see everyone again at Rhonda's for a farewell BBQ.  We wish we ould have spent more time with them, but are thankful they were all so understanding. I guess it gives us more of an excuse to have to go to Ireland, and sooner rather than later! =)
