I am not getting my hopes up but last night Hailey actually slept in her BIG GIRL BED!!
I have been talking and talking to her about her sleeping in her bed for months! I put up a sticker chart and have reminded her every time she asks for something that she has to earn it and sleep in her bed. Nothing has worked. Of course it might be because Jason loves having her in the bed and hasn't been extremely supportive in getting her out of the bed. Once she cries he gives in and of course benefits because he gets to snuggle with her until he is asleep and she skirts her little body underneath mine.
Well, after weeks of lack of sleep and further discomfort in my own bed because she is sleeping with us last night I put my foot down and made her fall asleep in her big girl bed.
It broke my heart. I allowed her and Kyle to watch TV in my room for half an hour to relax before bed, and then it was time. Usually I am not down for the fight and Kyle goes in his room and Hailey sets herself up for bed in the middle of our bed. However, with school coming up, wanting more space in my bed, and a little more comfort at night I put my foot down and made her go in her own room. It helped that Jase was working late and not home.
It broke my heart, she was crying "Please Mommy please I don't need anymore toys! I just want to sleep with you! Please I want to snuggle Daddy!" over and over. It was heart wrenching but I got her in there and she stayed.
Granted she was very mad. I just kept telling her how proud I was of her.
She did get up three times. Once at 10:30, once at 12:30, and once at 4:40. Not bad. It was her first night!
This morning she came in my room with a big smile on her face. I asked "Did you like sleeping in your big girl bed? are you going to sleep there tonight?"
She said "Yes, mama, but its not dark out yet and I need a new purple sticker chart."
I am not getting my hopes up, but I am praying she is going to be sleeping in her big girl bed from now on. Of course she is welcome in our bed every once in a while for love and snuggles because we are going to miss her. Especially Daddy. Hailey has become his lil' teddy bear he can't seem to sleep right without her.
So proud of my Buglet!!!
