Every Columbus Day weekend my brother, my husband and several other friends and family get together for "Man Day" which over the last 3 years went from Man DAY to Man weekend.
It is a fun yet scored and important event. It entails fishing for a day and a whiffle ball game. Men earn points by catching fish, how big the fish is, how much the fish weighs. You earn offensive and defensive points in wiffle ball. You can be given "man points" at any time. For instance the MEN who grew a beard for the day got some points.
The points matter. Whoever has the most points as well as man votes at the end of the weekend becomes "Man of the Year". He wins an enormous trophy and earns a patch on their "man shirt".
The points also help determine who will be Captain next year. Of course "Man of the Year" from the previous year is an automatic captain the following year. After him the men with the most points from the previous year get the other slots. This year there were 3 captains.
Hence there were 3 teams:
I am Proud to announce that MY husband won both "Fisherman of the Year" as well as "Man of the Year" 2010.
Where are me and the kids for the weekend? This year we stayed at my mothers house. I needed to leave because the man festivities were hosted at my home.
Where are the OBNOXIOUS man trophies? In the garage. with a designated shelf to all man trophies.
I find it all a little funny, but the men in my life enjoy and look forward to the day. So here is to MY man! MAN OF THE YEAR!
