Boo Bunny

I took the babies to see the Easter Bunny. I meant to go see the bunny weeks ago, but it somehow slipped my mind; I really don't know how I could have forgotten, but somehow I did. I wanted to make a cute little Easter card with a picture of the kids for our family. It was going to be so cute; IT WASN'T!

I knew meeting my sister in law in the afternoon may present a little difficulty, but that was easiest for her, and I have changed the kids schedules before and it never presented a major problem. We got there at 1:15 and got in line. There were 2 pictures in front of us; and where the line was not long the parents had several photos taken to make sure all 4 and 6 of their kids looked happy and cute.

Here it was our turn, Kyle was very intrigued with the bunny, and I had been talking with him "Do you want to see the bunny? Look how friendly the bunny is." yada yada yada. He did NOT want to get near the bunny., Seeing another mom in line I let her go in front of me. I did not want to annoy her and make her wait. I didn't want to annoy the picture people or the bunny so I stepped aside. Mind you its not like I even tried for 2 minutes..I just didn't wan to be "that woman" PLUS I was still waiting for my sister in law and nephew.

Rhonda and Ryan arrive and now there is a bit of a line at the bunny. So we wait a bit. Rhonda got a cute picture of Ryan Jr. with the bunny and then it was our turn again. Literally after about 45 seconds of me trying the ladies apologized because the Bunny is Union and needed to take his break from 2-3 it was now 2:04. So we leave..I am disheartened but try to be positive and think that with a walk around the mall my attitude would change.

2:55pm We go back to see the bunny and there is a LINE...what ALL of you waited until 3pm the Thursday before Easter to get your kids picture taken?? We wait in line with 3 anxious babies who no longer want to sit in their carriages. THANK GOD Rhonda stayed with me. Kyle ran off a few times, Hailey wanted to be held. It was a little stressful...the stress of the 2 babies was normal for me. But the stress of other women's eyes and judgement was new. Rhonda kept saying Kyle was fine. In my opinion he was being a normal, active, almost 2 year old and for the most part stayed with us and listened..but I kept feeling like I was being judged and not in a positive way. I took a deep breath and told myself, if their kids were behaving that way what would I think...and I came to the conclusion it would not have even phased me..OK so I was over reacting.

Finally our turn at the bunny again. The first thing the woman says is "You're persistent aren't you" I looked at her like "what?? you told me to come back...I don't hold up your lines I have been so nice to you, but whatever" I just get the kids with the bunny and SNAP

That was it 1 shot..I was thinking you gave other parents a bunch of shots, I get 1 but of course I did not say anything because again, I did not want to be "that woman". I think I might send it into the ELLEN show for the "I can't believe I PAID for this photo" portion of her show. I did learn a few lessons though. 1.) Don't worry about what other moms are thinking about your parenting skills you are doing the best you can. 2.) Don't worry about everyone else in lines feelings..they aren't worried about mine; they just want a good photo. 3.) SPEAK UP 4.) Next year go to the Marlborough mall to see the bunny; it is not as crowded and the people help you with your children, they tend to have more patience. At least I can look at it and have a memory. My babies will only be babies for a short period of time and I want to absorb every second of it..even the not so fun seconds.

HAPPY EASTER!

  1. You are a great mom, and a better mom than me! I would have bought them a toy bunny and posed them in the mall with the escalators in the background ;)
