The Binky

Kyle and Hailey are both binky babies. Some people think its fine, it bothers others. I know Kyle is starting to get too big and too old for the binky. I thought long and hard and decided: that's it! Kyles binky has to go.

It broke my heart to not give him his "bebe", but I stayed strong. As he looked with tear filled eyes at his sister who had the same type binky in pink in her mouth I realized, if I take the binky from him, I should de-bink Hailey as well. It is a good time, she is young and not super attached to the binky. That hour went really well.

Then I turned to see Kyle, with the light from the window surrounding his head like a halo on an angel. His blue eyes glowing and no binky. My heart fell to the floor. He was A-O-K without it and I was NOT. I was NOT ready to de-bink Hailey, she is still so little and Kyle, Kyle! I was NOT ready to see him without a binky.

Needless to say Kyle still has his binky. He does not use it even half as much as he was a few weeks ago. AND he actually will only use 2 or 3...he seems to have favorites among the bunch and as they get lost there are fewer and fewer for him to choose from.

Sooner or later he will not have the binky anymore. Just at this time I am putting it off until later. He is still my baby boy, and the truth is he will probably naturally give it up soon, so I do not have to torture myself with the psychology of taking it away.

Yup- I LOVE my binky babies and I am PROUD of it!

  1. Good for you Karen, but I must say, Connor did really really well taking it away so early. Something to think about. He is sleeping a ton better too!

  2. That's great Commor did so well. I know I should just have them quit, but they both seem to be doing it on their own anyway. I just think they look cute...I know, SO BAD OF ME!
